Young Judaea’s Merkaz Hamagshimim Plans Busy 2010

Merkaz Hamagshimim - Hadassah offers cultural events, social action and practical planning for olim (immigrants to Israel.) They are newly located in the Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem. Plans for 2010 are well underway. Take a look at what’s happening in just the first quarter of the year! 

  • Hadassah Art Gallery – three new exhibitions of olim and sabra artists
  • The Merkaz Job Fair, where 30 companies are offering jobs in a variety of fields; speakers discuss the job market, job hunting, and working in Israel; and hundreds of olim have an opportunity to find a job in Israel.
  • Aliyah workshops on renters’ rights, resume writing and more.
  • Volunteers will run in the Jerusalem Marathon March 18 as a group to raise money for lone soldiers
  • Volunteers will prepare care packages for Lone Soldiers
  • Clothing Swap parties to promote social, ecological and tzedakah values
  • Activism group for culture in Jerusalem
  • Classes for the mind and body
  • Community Shabbat and holiday meals
  • Special Pesach Art Fair for social action and ecological initiatives
  • "Acoustic Beit Café" – where young singers can perform
  • Movie marathons  
  • Jewish Theater Festival
