A Gift to Jerusalem from Hadassah Hospital

Showtime is airing "Ahead of Time," the story of Ruth Gruber, a courageous young journalist who carried out a secret mission to bring 1,000 refugees to the US during World War II. Her photos from the ship Exodus, whose 4,500 refugee passengers were denied entry into Palestine, have kept the story of that ill-fated voyage alive for 60 years. She wrote "Raquela: A Woman of Israel," about a nurse who was married to the deputy director of Hadassah Medical Organization. Ruth, now 99, and her daughter are both Life Members of Hadassah.Read Ruth Gruber: Brave Witness
